Sheila Johnson

Senior Administrator

Following four years on the National Marketplace Consumer Insolvency team as a Marketing Specialist and Business Development Coordinator; Sheila decided to return to the Windsor Financial Recovery Service office in August, 2016.

Sheila quotes “it is important to talk about money, often people feel ashamed of the situation they find themselves in with debt and don’t want to talk about it, when most often it is due to unexpected life events.  Having the privilege to share solutions and to hear someone say they feel so much better than when they walked through the door is a rewarding experience and one I realized, I missed.”

Sheila joined BDO in May, 2005 following 16 years in the Social Services Industry as a Case Manager and Commissioner of Oaths for taking Affidavits.  Since 2014, Sheila has invested time in learning about Financial Literacy matters. With her 10+ years’ experience in the Consumer Insolvency Industry, the knowledge and expertise learned regarding Financial Literacy matters, she offers a unique skill set of information to debtors to help improve their knowledge, skills and confidence in dealing with debt and their own personal money matters.  Sheila offers explanation of all options for dealing with debt wisely so individuals can make an informed decision that best suits their situation.  Complimentary confidential appointments are available to meet with Sheila in the Windsor and Chatham offices.

Sheila is also known in the Windsor-Essex Community as a Financial Literacy Presenter for BDO to not-for profit agencies, for profit businesses and unions.  She has delivered presentations to Freedom 55 Financial Advisors, Unifor444 Members, Life After 50, Lake Shore St. Andrews Divorce Care Group and at trade shows.

In 2008, Sheila successfully completed the Insolvency Administrator Course (CAIRP) and will start the Insolvency Counsellor’s Qualification Course in July, 2016.

October, 2015, Sheila joined Toastmasters International.  She was the Public Relations officer in 2015 and has been elected as President of the Tecumseh Area Toastmasters 2016/17.
